About this opportunity

Insurance Pensions and Investments has a vision to improve the support we provide to our customers throughout their financial lives, empowering them to make the right decisions on their long-term saving, investment, and retirement needs. We do this by providing clear, straightforward customer journeys, supported by flexible and resilient product platforms and services.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate software engineer to lead our approach to delivering modern applications. As a member of the leadership team you will be a hands-on technician, building and designing cloud native software and improving traditional software. This will include writing code, designing microservice based applications and taking part in the full application delivery lifecycle.

You'll focus on constantly improving and building upon the engineering capabilities of the teams delivering improvements and maintaining focus on genuine technical excellence.

We are transforming and modernising our applications moving from traditional VM hosting to container based hosting and your expertise and guidance will be critical in this success of this mission. You will lead the technical migration of applications to the new public cloud environment, prioritising engineering best practices and thorough testing to ensure correctness and reduce risk.

You’ll be working in a modern, collaborative agile environment where a culture of learning and continual improvement is key. Using the scale of Lloyds Banking Group you get access to great tooling and support including Pluralsight subscriptions, and Enterprise MSDN subscriptions.

About us

Like the modern Britain we serve, we’re evolving. Investing billions in our people, data and tech to transform the way we meet the ever-changing needs of our 26 million customers. We’re growing with purpose. Join us on our journey and you will too…

What you’ll need

  • A strong Engineering background with significant commercial experience building, testing and deploying applications, with expert skills in the Microsoft .net Stack and C# in particular and experience in prioritising the delivery of working software.
  • A combination of great technical and communication skills. Able to effectively communicate with customers, senior managers and engineers. A passion for setting technical direction and practices.
  • A clear understanding of DevOps approaches and expertise with the tools that are used to support this such as CI/CD pipelines and source control tools such as git.
  • Expert in hands on software engineering - including full stack development, API creation and resolving production issues.
  • A passion for continually improving. This will involve a strong desire to continually learn and evolve your own skills but also those in the engineering teams and the practices that the teams use.
  • Experience in traditional Windows server and client application hosting and deployment as well as modern approaches to containerising workloads and deploying to the public cloud.
