Salary: £78,849 -£87,610
Location: London
Hours: Full-time
Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week currently, or 40% of our time, at our London Office

About this opportunity

As an engineer you’ll have opportunities to help drive a great engineering culture, building great code, develop wider skills to develop end to end products for platforms and be a member of a wider engineering community passionate about sharing knowledge and learning.

What you’ll do

  • Work as part of a self-organised engineering team to design and develop software features or services that are delightful and vital in our mission to help Britain prosper.

  • Be at the heart of delivery in your team building features with a passion for evolving best practices within your community.

  • Work with the product and engineering leads to achieve the vision and customer outcomes for your Lab, through writing well-factored and tested code.

  • Be curious about technology and understanding how things work. You'll influence positively demonstrating the right values and behaviours as we improve how we deliver.

  • You’ll Love to solve Customer’s problems using technology and engineering practices

  • You'll lead, direct and shape approaches to solving technical challenges and translating business requirements into technical solutions.

  • Build efficient and reusable front-end and back-end systems and abstractions.

What you’ll need

  • Experience with – Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Microservices, HTML, CSS, JavaScript libraries and tooling, such as React js, Redux, Webpack

  • Experience working with container environments in particular Docker, Kubernetes and Helm (e.g. GCP, Azure, AWS), OCP.

  • Grasp of system design and scalable architecture

  • Experience in designing and integrating RESTful APIs

  • Experience in building web applications

  • Experience of using automation tools like Jenkins and UCD.

  • Diverse technical experience and a proven ability to deliver high quality applications at scale

  • Strong experience of the entire software development lifecycle and experience in delivery of software.
