Job description

Help us empower our people and Help Britain Prosper

At Lloyds Banking Group, we are passionate about delivering high-quality apprenticeship experiences to support everyone to realise their full potential.

This is an opportunity to learn skills, gain a qualification and earn a salary, all while playing a meaningful role in shaping finance as force for good.

In Finance, we do so much more than day-to-day accounting. Emerging technology, new competitors and customers' changing expectations are constantly reshaping our industry. We need to keep on top of data insights, financial markets, regulation, strategic investment, and customer and product development.

We look for the patterns that others haven’t seen, assessing them for financial impact and using them to shape new opportunities. We use energy, teamwork, resilience and creative thinking to make a visible and positive impact on our Group and its customers, shaping finance to do good things. Ready to play your part?

What you’ll learn

As a Finance apprentice, you’ll gain expertise and the ability to create, verify and review accurate and timely financial information, meeting relevant ethical, professional and legal standards and accounting practices. Throughout the apprenticeship, you will be stretched and challenged to develop your technical knowledge and skills and to apply what you learn in your day-to-day role.

Your apprenticeship will take around two years to complete, and cover key areas such as:

  • Audit and assurance

  • Finance, accounting and reporting

  • Management accounting

  • Governance, risk and control

  • Strategic business management

  • Taxation.

On completion of your level 4 apprenticeship, you’ll progress to a higher level qualification, which will deepen your understanding of finance and mean you’ll end the scheme as a fully qualified chartered accountant - a combined study time of around four to five years. During this time, you’ll complete five 12 month rotations within the Finance function.

As part of your apprenticeship, we’ll support your study to complete the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) qualification.

Why Lloyds Banking Group?

We’re the UK’s biggest digital bank and you’ll be supporting over 22 million digitally active customers. We’re investing over £3bn in our people, technology, and data, to drive positive change, and our focus is on green finance and sustainable products to deliver a better future for everyone.

What you’ll need

  • GCSE (or equivalent) at grade 4-9 in both Maths and English (Language and / or Literature)

  • PLUS - 3 A levels (or equivalent) at grade A*-C.

These grades can be predicted, but any offer made to you will be conditional upon successful achievement of these qualifications.

  • You’ll need to be at least 18 years old on 1st September 2025.

Whilst we welcome candidates who have a degree, this cannot be in a field related to the apprenticeship due to a crossover in learning. We’ll request a copy of your degree module transcript to review if your degree may contain prior learning.

About working for us

Our focus is to ensure we're inclusive every day, building an organisation that reflects modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms.  We want our people to feel that they belong and can be their best, regardless of background, identity or culture.  We were one of the first major organisations to set goals on diversity in senior roles, create a menopause health package, and a dedicated Working with Cancer initiative.  And it’s why we especially welcome applications from under-represented groups.

Important information

Due to Home Office requirements regarding Skilled Workers, we’re unable to accept applications for visa sponsorship for our apprenticeship roles as the proposed salary for the role does not meet the minimum threshold – if this situation applies to you, please consider looking for other vacancies which may be more suitable.

Salary

You will join us on a fixed apprenticeship salary where you’ll be eligible for annual pay reviews. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, your salary will be increased in line with the grade and pay range for your role.

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%

  • An annual bonus award, subject to Group performance

  • Share schemes including free shares

  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping

  • 22 days’ holiday, with bank holidays on top

  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies.

If you’re excited by the thought of becoming part of our team, get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.
