Job description

  • JOB TITLE:  Financial Accountant

  • SALARY: £62,874 - £72,650

  • LOCATION(S): Watford, Flexible  

  • HOURS: Full-time

  • WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days or 40% of our time, at our Watford site.

About this Opportunity

The successful candidate will be a key member of the finance team, reporting into the Financial Controller.   As part of the finance team this role is integral to the management and financial reporting produced by the department and will work across the business to support key stakeholders through active partnering.

Key responsibilities will include supporting production of the monthly accounts and analysis for p&l and balance sheet and reporting of variances against budget and forecast, including commentary.The role will include preparation of elements of the statutory accounts, including analysis to support tax computations & additional submissions to support Group consolidated reporting.  As a key contact for Group auditors, provision of accurate and timely audit deliverables is essential.

Specifically, the role will be the key person for preparation of technical accounting in relation to the vehicle fleet, operating lease asset accounting, quarterly revaluation reviews, provision reviews (IAS 36) and depreciation profile requirements (IAS 16).

What you’ll need

  • Preparing, analysing and reporting monthly financial information.  Investigation of variances against budget and forecast

  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations

  • Business partnering across the operational functions

  • Driving month end close and reporting process efficiency

  • Managing and developing financial systems and accounting policies and the internal control environment

  • Preparing audit deliverables with elements of statutory accounts and supporting analysis

  • Production of analysis to support Corporation Tax returns completed at Group levels

  • Role model for Management Accountant and other Finance team members

And any experience of these would be really useful

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA accountant with experienced gained in audit practice and industry

  • Strong technical ability and problem solving skills

  • Continuous improvement mind set with strong organisational skills being Proactive and determined

  • Ability to multi-task, and work under strict timelines and be able to work independently and raise issues early so they can be addressed

  • Hit the ground running and work through tasks with focus and speed

  • Able to present complicated information in a simple manner with Great attention to detail

  • Experience of ERP and accounting systems and reporting under IFRS and Knowledge of IAS 16 and IAS 36 would be an advantage

  • Advanced Excel and data management skills
