JOB TITLE: Assistant Manager - Finance - Group Planning and Reporting

LOCATION(S): Edinburgh

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in our Edinburgh office
 

About this opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced analytical finance professional to gain a unique insight into supporting the delivery of financial results to senior executives and the potential to influence group decision-making.

Within Central Finance, The Group Financial Planning and Reporting team is responsible for producing the Group’s key financial results including the regular monthly management results, the quarterly forecasts, and the annual 4-year operating plan. In addition, the team provide support to the Group Chief Executive and Chief Financial Officer in the presentation of the Group’s results, internally and externally.
 

Day to day you’ll be;

  • Consolidating the group’s financial results at a divisional and legal entity level using Planning Analytics (PAX).
  • Preparing ad-hoc and BAU manual adjustments through PAX, and investigations into queries on the financial results/statements using PAX.
  • Supporting in the full analysis of submitted numbers against expectations, including all P&L lines (income, costs, impairments and below the line), main BS lines (assets, liabilities, wholesale funding, equity etc) and KPI metrics (ROTE, NIM, TNAV, AQR etc).
  • Leading the month-end management reporting process and guiding the team through all key month-end tasks to completion.
  • Supporting external results communication including market messaging through Q&A.
  • Supporting and delivering consolidated quarterly forecasts, latest view forecasts, annual budget cascade and annual 4 Year Operating Plan (4YOP).

What you’ll need

  • Fully qualified accountant
  • Prior experience in a management reporting role focussed on running a month end process to deliver financial results, along with analysis and presentation of those results.
  • Collaborates effectively within a flat team structure.
  • Ability to form positive relationships with colleagues.
     

And any experience of these would be really useful

  • Experience using Planning Analytics desirable.
  • Good knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint including how to effectively present financial and written information in a persuasive way.
  • Knowledge/experience of Power BI would be desired but not essential.
