Job Title: Payment Services Director

Location: Birmingham, Glasgow

Hours: Full Time

Working Pattern: Our working style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our hub sites.

You’ll play a key role in delivering our Group Payments strategic ambition of redefining domestic and international payments processing into an industry-leading, fully trackable, low-cost, and zero-touch payments processor that delivers at pace, and is scalable, secure, resilient, and operates 24/7 !

Payment Services is a newly formed department and your role involves designing, building, and implementing a future-fit Payments capability to efficiently deliver Liquidity Management, Cash and Travel money, as well as Financial Crime & Compliance Technologies (FCCT) and in-sourced and out-sourced activities for Cheques processing.

You’ll be part of the Group Chief Operating Office which sits at the centre of Lloyds Banking Group and plays an important role in enabling the Group’s purpose, ambitions and activities which are critical to the delivery of the Group’s strategy and Helping Britain Prosper!

As Director of Payment Services, you’ll be:

  • Accountable for the running and timely execution of the Cash and Travel money, in-sourced and out-sourced activities for Cheques processing, and Liquidity management activities in line with the internal and external standards.
  • Accountable for the design and maintenance of FCCT in accordance with internal and external requirements
  • Lead and implement an internal and external strategy to drastically the reduce costs of Cheques and Cash
  • Design, implement, and run accurate measurement, benchmarking, and forecasting to optimise prioritisation, increase output, and improve the quality of work
  • Ensure maximum use of technology (by benchmarking solutions competitors, exploring the art of possible with IT and partners) to rigorously digitise and automate Payments Services activities
  • Lead the Cheque joint venture activities with a focus on ensuring the best outcomes for customers and LBG. Additionally, identify efficiency opportunities and business process outsourcing (BPO) activities
  • Ownership of the in-scope payments Important Business Services / Processes (IBS / IBP)
  • Lead, empower and develop colleagues to help build a high-performing team, encouraging and embedding new, agile and innovative practices to continuously improve process effectiveness, efficiency, accuracy and pace.

What you’ll need:

We’re looking for a leader with a multi year and proven track record in all aspects of successfully developing, managing and servicing financial products. If this is you, we’d like to hear from you.

Specifically, we're looking for someone with:

  • Must have senior Director level experience in financial services
  • Track record in successfully delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Track record in successfully building High Performance teams
  • Operates effectively as a senior leader of a major PLC, maintaining effective corporate governance arrangements and operating within a regulated environment. Engages financial sector regulators and industry bodies at an appropriately senior level, demonstrating strong regulatory awareness and rigor
  • A risk and audit mentality, with extensive working experience in the three lines of defence model
  • Demonstrates independence, objectivity, and a dedication to thoroughness
  • Experience in developing policies, standards, and governance procedures
  • Proven multiyear and hands on Commercial Product Management experience with complex financial services/ products
  • Understanding of UK Payment Regulations
