JOB TITLE:  Lead Quality Engineer

SALARY: £90,440 - £106,400

LOCATION: Edinburgh

HOURS:  Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in our Edinburgh office.

Here's where you’ll make a difference as a Senior Quality Engineer in our Customer Waterfront Lab –

  • Set the strategic direction & best practice for QE for the lab
  • Drive quality throughout the change lifecycle whilst continually challenging, motivating, mentoring and supporting their team.
  • Undertake multiple types of testing of complex code to deliver products that are fit for purpose and meet the quality standards that our customers expect, based on deep domain and technical expertise in hands-on test automation to modernise our journeys.
  • Be an advocate for Quality Engineering, providing a voice to Quality Engineers within the team, identifying and supporting their teams in resolution of impediments and issues
  • A passion for mentoring and coaching people in a "player-coach" model.
  • Looks to automate testing where appropriate, updating and streamlining the test automation framework & coding standards deployed within the team, review the test code, development code to give feedback in improving the cycle time.

What you’ll need

  • Solid QE hands-on experience in automation, hands-on experience in shift left engineering using latest cutting-edge technology earlier in the life cycle and set code review best practices on BDD scripts with any programming language for 3+ years.
  • Deep understanding of Java-script/ NodeJS / BDD Best Practices or alternatively strong hands-on with mobile testing automation and capable of building the test framework from scratch
  • Strong experience in Mobile/Web App automation testing using Appium/Selenium and cucumber (or similar tech) and API automation using Playwright (or similar tech)
  • Deep understanding of non-functional testing techniques and strong hands-on with automating the non-functional tests.
  • Good understanding of DevOps tooling for execution of automation tests in CI Tools such as Jenkins, Azure or GCP

And any experience of these would be really useful

  • Excellent understanding of programming principles such as engineering re-usable code, best practices such as accessibility automation, early performance proving and hands-on DevSecOps are essential.
  • Strong experience with reviewing colleague’s work and providing feedback to others and scale up quality engineering initiatives through industry accepted frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to clearly present ideas and provide direction to your team
  • Extensive experience in problem solving and issue resolution by following key strategy principles in judgement, influence and drive the teams towards delivery
