JOB TITLE: IT Systems Risk Specialist

SALARY: £62,874 - £69,860 per annum

LOCATIONS: Bristol, Birmingham, Chester, Edinburgh, Halifax, Leeds or Manchester

HOURS: Full-time – 35 hours per week

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites listed above.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

We’re putting in place a fresh operating model for non-financial risk management and we’re seeking an IT Systems Risk Specialist to join our Centre of Excellence. In this role you’ll be supporting robust risk management aligned with the Group’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF). This will include giving our leaders and Risk Owners businesses advice on their risk appetite decisions, safely, and at pace.

You'll contribute to implementing risk policy, appetite, and control objectives to enable the delivery of customer, regulatory and business strategic outcomes. Prepare to challenge conventions to create the best possible experience for both customers and staff!

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Risk and control

  • Contributing to the implementation of a risk and control oversight plan to assess compliance to relevant laws, regulations, industry standards and established controls.

  • Providing pragmatic advice to support informed key risk decisions and trade-offs (balancing commerciality and risk appetite), being bold to ‘call it’, and influence senior decision makers.

Reporting & Monitoring

  • Performing continuous monitoring and reporting of the Group’s exposure relative to risk appetite, highlighting any significant deviations. Identifying and developing key risk indicators and key performance indicators to enable appropriate monitoring.

  • Driving automation for risk and control measurement, monitoring, and reporting. Collaborating with technology, data, and analytics teams to escalate issues and define action plans, all in pursuit of sustainable risk management

Policy & Governance & Regulatory compliance

  • Contributing to the design and implementation of risk policies, control objectives, and appetite to enable the Group to meet regulatory and operational risk objectives, providing consistent, fair outcomes for customers and ensure compliance with control specialist teams, audit and external regulators.

  • Continuous review and enhancement of risk policies & appetite through the identification & assessment of emerging & growing risks, ensuring policies and appetite reflect new opportunities or threats.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

IT Systems Risk & Control

  • Existing deep operational expertise aligned to IT Systems Risk in a highly regulated environment, ideally within Financial Services, and knowledge of the latest operational risk frameworks and of technology asset lifecycle management,

Policy, Governance & Regulatory Compliance

  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulation, industry standards and established practice in technical subject area; and proven ability to establish relevant risk policies and appetite, designing effective control objectives and performance indicators, and experience in continuous monitoring and reporting on group exposure.

Future vision and understanding of emerging technology and risks

  • Demonstrable curiosity, understanding and track-record of effectively interpreting emerging technologies shaping the risk landscape (inc. AI, Digital Ledger Technology, Quantum) and anticipating the impact of changes and act accordingly.

Decision-making & problem-solving

  • Effective decision-making, with evidence of skilfully balancing trade-offs while understanding business strategy and opportunity risks and assimilating different sources of data and complex information to effectively problem-solve and make relevant conclusions and recommendations.

Relationship building

  • Strong communication skills in building effective internal and external partnerships and work collaboratively with all other lines of defence.
