Job description

An exciting opportunity to join our team in LBG’s Energy, Commodities, Utilities and Industrials Credit team as a Senior Credit Officer where you’ll play a leading role in helping us drive revenue growth and maintain an appropriate risk appetite to limit credit losses. As a Senior Credit Officer, you will play a leading role in driving the strategic direction of the team and delivering its core objectives.

You’ll lead a team of Senior Credit Analysts and Credit Officers which have responsibility for the credit management of a portfolio of Industrials and overseeing the management of corporate clients within the portfolio. You will also support your peer group across Energy, Commodities and Utilities.  On any given day, a Senior Credit Officer can look forward to a variety of work such as:

  • Leading discussions with originators, relationship managers, and product partners as well as Senior Sanctioners to shape credit proposals, set credit risk appetite, and maintain a balance of risk and reward.
  • Negotiating and evaluating complex financing proposals to find the ones that best meet the needs of the client and which provide the bank with appropriate protection.
  • Sanctioning credit proposals within a personal delegated lending discretion.
  • Working in a high profile, professional, and demanding environment committed to putting people first, being bold, trusting each other and embracing our differences.
  • Line Managing direct reports and playing a key role in their career development. Coaching other colleagues throughout CIB Corporate Credit.
  • Setting the strategy for your asset class or portfolio and shaping the strategy of CIB Corporate Credit as a whole.
  • Co-ordinating a wide variety of projects jointly with our key partners to improve processes and ways of working.

What you’ll need:

  • Experience of credit or sector specific skills.
  • Experience of demonstrating sound judgement and decisiveness.
  • Sophisticated financial and non-financial analytical skills and critical analysis skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of documentary terms.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable high levels of attention to detail, numeracy, and accuracy.
  • Experience of leading teams and line management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and across different audiences including Senior Sanctioners on complex issues or risks, with strong written and verbal communications skills.
