LOCATION(S): Chester / Cardiff
SALARY: £57,000 - £70,000

HOURS: Full-Time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least

two days per week, or 40% of our time in the office.

About this opportunity

We are recruiting for a manager to oversee the valuation and analytics of the largest credit card strategy of promotional Balance Transfers and Money Transfers.
 

The Pricing and Performance team within Credit Card are responsible for the evaluation of credit card strategies.
 

What would you get involved with?

Leading and controlling our Promotional Balance & Money Transfer Valuation process to influence and guide the pricing of the strategy in order to improve returns. Manage a team of experienced analysts.
 

You would influence Leaders across the Product Design Management team, Finance and Credit Risk, to support the provision of outstanding valuations and commercial insights into pricing and behavioural segment strategies.


Key Responsibilities:

You would lead a team responsible for generating a segmental view of customer valuations:

  • Lead the valuation modelling of promotional BTs and MTs, developing meaningful commercial insights into behavioural segment performance by price point and ensuring sufficient control and governance (including performance monitoring and model governance)

  • Wrangle data from different sources in SQL and python

  • Create and maintain methodologies and models to analyse timeseries behavioural and transactional data

  • Review code and technical analysis to ensure it is of high quality and to maintain best practices

  • Build, monitor, and update financial valuations for new and existing offers to customers, shaping proposals for approvals and ensuring appropriate governance is in place

  • Be responsible for the quarterly process showcasing the changes in valuations, in a collaboration with our partners and senior management.

  • Lead collaboration with our Credit Risk partners to ensure strategies are aligned and processes appropriately balance risk and reward

  • Lead and coach our analysts, developing their confidence and strengthening their technical and analytical performance ensuring a pipeline of developing talent

You'll possess a mix of interpersonal skills, able to influence and work effectively with technical and non-technical audiences. Adept at asking intelligent questions, developing complex analysis and using it to tell compelling stories.

Highly enthusiastic & self-motivated with demonstrable ability to engage with a wide range of people.
 

What you'll need

  • Excellent analytical ability with outstanding attention to detail and great numerical skills along with financial experience and profit and loss knowledge

  • Experience of leading, mentoring, and developing a team of experienced analysts

  • Advanced SQL knowledge (Cloud knowledge, particularly GCP experience, is a bonus) Ability to develop and review code to modern best practices (we are currently transitioning from SAS to python)

  • Knowledge of regression analysis techniques (Machine Learning such as gradient boosted tree models a bonus)

  • Ability to work independently and set key priorities for yourself and your team

  • You should be used to handling and simplifying large volumes of data and have a high level of technical ability

  • You would have excellent communicating skills and be able to present summaries of sophisticated and data heavy pieces of work to senior management

  • Ideally you have Financial Services experience with knowledge of Credit Cards
