Salary: £100,657 - £118,420
Location: London
Hours: Full-time

Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week currently, or 40% of our time, at our London Office

About this opportunity

Personalised Experiences and Communications (PEC) is a business platform that sits within Consumer business unit and plays a critical role in supporting the achievement of the Group strategic view by working closely & collaboratively across the Platform leadership team to grow by protecting and deepening customer relationships. PEC enables & delivers personalised customer communications & experiences across all channels, media and business areas supporting the Customer Growth strategy to deepen relationships with our customers across both the retail & commercial bank. This includes the data, analytics, and technology to unlock the value of differentiating our branded channel experiences, proposition, price and communication; as well as paper-free sustainable ambitions.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the software engineering squads in delivering high-quality software applications and systems that leverage AI and machine learning to provide personalised experiences for our twenty-six million customers and users. 

  • Collaborate with the head of engineering, product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to define and execute the software engineering squads’ roadmap, scope, and deliverables. 

  • Mentor and coach, the software engineering squad, developing their skills and career growth. 

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues and challenges that arise during the software development lifecycle. 

  • Deliver technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple entities across the group. 

  • Define consumption and integration patterns and data models and contracts. 

  • Create automation tools for data reconciliation and curation. 

  • Drive the culture of delivering highly secured and high-quality software. 

  • Identify and eliminate recurring issues by automating processes. 

  • Help in adopting best engineering practices like Test Driven Development, code reviews, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery. 

  • Champion culture of inclusivity and diversity 

What you’ll need

  • Experience with leadership, management, and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower the software engineering team.

  • Hands-on proven experience of delivering systems design, software development, testing and operational stability.

  • Proven experience and knowledge of automation and CI/CD. 

  • Proficiency in relevant programming languages, frameworks, and technologies, such as Python, Java, Rust, JavaScript, React, Angular, TensorFlow, PyTorch.

  • Experience in working with large-scale data sets, data pipelines, and cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

  • Experience in using distributed systems and event driven architecture.

  • Practical experience of Cloud native solutions. 

  • Advanced knowledge of containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure or AWS.

  • Strong experience working with Kafka technologies.

It would be great if you also had…

  • Certification in GCP “Cloud Architect”, “Cloud Developer”, “Professional Data Engineer”.

  • Certification in Apache Kafka (CCDAK). 

  • Strong experience in data analysis.
