LOCATION(S): Bristol or Edinburgh

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in our Edinburgh office



About this opportunity


An exciting 9 month FTC/ secondment opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the Commercial Banking Cost Centre of Excellence.


The purpose of this role is to support and deliver insight, advice, and exercise control. Providing timely cost insight and equip key decision makers to utilise cost resources in the most valuable way using forward looking and historical financial information and analysis to support Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) and Business & Commercial Banking (BCB) teams.

Join us in this exciting role where you will undertake CIB and BCB cost management activities including but not limited to supporting:

  • Reviewing of business area reporting, challenging where necessary and providing commentary and CoE analysis & insight
  • Liaising with Business Partners (BPs) and Planning & Analysis Manager for information relating to movements and month end exceptions; produce the Flash and trigger required adjustments to be actioned by the Controls team
  • Supporting BPs for key meetings if appropriate
  • Communicating with BP and Control teams on non-standard assumptions, review accounting outputs during month end and challenge
  • Supporting the analysis and communication of unexplained variances and non-standard business driven changes related to 4 Year Operating Plan / Quarterly and Monthly Rolling Forecast
  • Supporting structure changes and provide guidance on the Restatement process
  • Continuously promote a culture of Process Improvement within the team

What you’ll need

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel)
  • PowerBI, SAP and TM1 experience
  • Energetic, tenacious in the achievement of goals.  Has a 'can / will do' approach and must be prepared to be hands on.
  • A part qualified accountant or qualified by experience in a Finance environment.
