About this opportunity

We're passionate about enabling the group to deliver against our environmental strategy ambitions, protect nature and support the UK’s ambition to be Net Zero by 2050.

We're a high profile and impactful team. The Supply Chain & Technology Sustainability Team sits within Group Sourcing & Supplier Management, and we're responsible for ensuring we improve the sustainability impacts of our supply chain. This includes reducing the carbon emissions that our suppliers generate and ensuring our suppliers meet other broader Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) requirements around issues such as ethics, modern slavery, human rights and nature.

This role is essential in supporting how we improve the assessment and compliance of our suppliers (new and existing) against evolving ESG requirements. We align ourselves to the Group’s Sustainability strategy and ambitions and in particular the Group’s public ambition to reduce supply chain emissions by 50% by 2030, on the path to net zero by 2050. Our broader team have accountability for Sustainability for the Group Chief Operating Office, providing the opportunity to gain exposure and learning around activity to improve the Sustainability of our technology and data.

We're looking for someone who wants to make a difference. You'll be passionate about contributing to a more sustainable future, staying up to date with current affairs and bringing new insights into the team. This is a great opportunity to join a successful team, with significant opportunities for cross divisional engagement and external collaboration.

What you’ll do

  • Process Improvements: Understand existing sourcing and supplier management processes to identify and embed improvements which effectively address our supply chain sustainability criteria, information management and requirements.

  • Supplier Engagement: Directly engage and assess around 160 suppliers to understand their climate transition plans and produce insights for sharing across the group.

  • Stakeholder management: Manage relationships with Group colleagues and external organisations, championing and embedding sustainability values and principles into sourcing and supplier management data, decisions and processes.

  • Data collection and analysis: Create and analyse reports from a wide variety of data sources to recommend pathways for improvement.

  • Research and industry awareness: Horizon scanning, collaborating closely with internal and external colleagues on ESG developments.

What you’ll need

  • A successful track record of owning and delivery of projects.

  • A passion for driving improvements to reduce our collective sustainability impacts.

  • Ability to positively engage and influence key stakeholders including Group suppliers, external suppliers and a wide variety of colleagues.

  • Good people skills to facilitate effective teamwork and collaborative working.

  • Dedication to communicating clearly and succinctly both verbally and in writing with impact.

  • Ability to problem solve and analyse key themes using data from a wide range of sources and identify possible solutions and impacts on the business.

  • Confidence with Microsoft tools including Excel and PowerPoint.

It would be great if you had

  • Broad awareness of ESG management good practice (including Climate Change, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement) or experience of sourcing and supplier management activities and processes.
