Job Title: Head of Reporting and Controls - ESG

Salary: £124,653 - £146,650

Location: London

Hours: Full Time

Working Pattern: Our working style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our hub sites.

About this Opportunity

This is an opportunity to bring your leadership experience and expertise in ESG reporting and governance to Lloyds Banking Group where you’ll play a key role in delivering our sustainability ambitions!

As the Head of Reporting and Controls you'll lead a team of reporting and governance specialists that support the delivery of the Group’s internal and external Environmental, Social and Governance reporting activities ensuring appropriate measurement assurance, processes and controls. This includes relevant governance activity.

You’ll be part of the Group Sustainable Business team which sits at the centre of Lloyds Banking Group and plays an important role in enabling Lloyds Banking Group’s purpose ambitions and activities which are critical to the delivery of the Group’s strategy and helping Britain Prosper. These include defining the ambitions and enablement actions across key areas such as affordable homes, financial empowerment, regional development, transition to net zero and protecting nature.

As Head of Reporting and Controls, you’ll be:

  • Providing guidance to the Group and support to the Group Finance Sustainability reporting team on the evolving ESG frameworks, voluntary standards and regulatory requirements and recommend and mobilise an internal approach to ensure continued compliance where relevant and appropriate

  • Collaborating with partners across the Group on mandatory updates which include the annual report and accounts, the Group Sustainability report, responses to external and internal queries on Modern Slavery and Human Rights and annual updates on the implementation of voluntary frameworks such as Principles for Responsible Banking, The Equator Principles, and UN Global Compact

  • Owning the approach to ensuring the Group’s agreed principles of doing business in a responsible, sustainable and inclusive way, with reference to the Code of Ethics and Responsibility, are embedded in ways of working and governance processes across the business

  • Responsible for the GSB team controls environment, working in collaboration with Risk partners ensuring a fit-for-purpose control framework to manage key risks across business and operational activities within the team remit

  • Leading the governance processes related to Group Sustainable Business activity, ensuring committee integrity and compliance with Committee Terms of Reference

  • Lead, empower and develop colleagues to help build a high-performing team, encouraging and embedding new, agile and innovative practices to improve process effectiveness, efficiency, accuracy and pace

  • Translating emerging and existing external sustainability requirements and determining the impact on the Group’s business models and business areas.

What you’ll need:

We’re looking for a strong leader with a background in ESG, sustainability reporting and controls. If this is you, we’d like to hear from you.

Specifically we're looking for someone that:

  • Has a deep understanding of sustainability frameworks, the global regulatory landscape and mandated sustainability requirements of financial services organisations in relation to ESG and how it may impact a financial services company

  • Experienced in monitoring and reporting performance against ESG strategies and standards, including carbon disclosure, social key performance indicators, and responsible investments. Ability to translate insights from raw data into evidence for strategic storytelling and progress measurement.

  • Objectively defines and resolves a matter, improvement or situation that is difficult or undesirable. Uses information analysis and scenario comparison, applying logic, prioritisation and creative thinking, to formulate judgments and solutions that lead to effective outcomes

  • A track record of identifying, understanding and successfully leading senior level relationships with individuals or groups who have a vested interest in the outcome

  • A strong network with leading external bodies such as UNGC, ISSB, EU EFRAG, WEF, and UNEP-FI.

It would also be beneficial to have experience in:

  • Coaching to go faster by demonstrating dedication to creating an environment that builds teams with skills aligned to strategy and creating new and better ways for to embed change at pace
